About Shepley Health Centre
Shepley Health Centre is a purpose-built health centre that was completed in 2005. It had a complete interior refit, to the highest modern standards in 2021. The health centre hosts the Shepley primary health care team and the Shepley Pharmacy.
The modern purpose built surgery is located close to the centre of Shepley village, on the outskirts of Huddersfield In addition to the light and airy practice premises there is also a large car park which supplies spacious parking for its patients and visitors alike.
Disabled access – there is wheelchair access to all patient areas of the Practice and there are toilet facilities for the disabled. The large car park has clearly marked disabled spaces available.
Mother and baby facilities – are available, please ask at Reception.
Here is the entrance to our building. The space is adequate for wheelchair access. Just in front of the entrance door is a covered area for pram parking, just next to which is a cycle parking area. The entrance doors are automatic and once you pass into the entry area, going straight ahead leads directly to the waiting area. If instead you turn to your left, this leads directly into the Shepley Pharmacy, where you can expect a warm welcome from the pharmacy team.
The waiting area is open plan with moveable seating. It is well lit and can be air conditioned if necessary. Whilst it is often a very busy space, it never seems cramped or overfull. Within the waiting area there is an area designated for young children to play; older children and adults are well catered for a wide range of reading material. Disabled toilet facilities are easily accessible from the waiting room. There is a free drinks fountain present for patient use.
We have been informed that there are plans to introduce wi-fi as a facility in the waiting room in the not too distant future.
We have four GP consulting rooms, four nurse consulting rooms, a Health Promotion room and two treatment rooms.
One of our treatment rooms is set up for minor surgery, management of minor injuries and dressing wounds. We use disposable instruments and have access to equipment for use in minor surgery. Our medical team undertake removal of skin tags, warts, small cysts and moles at minor surgery sessions. Please discuss with a doctor or a nurse practitioner if you think you would like minor surgery.
